Vancouver Sun Run statement regarding the Coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak
Vancouver, BC – After careful consideration and in light of the latest information from federal and provincial health agencies, the 2020 Vancouver Sun Run has decided to cancel the 2020 event. The health and safety of our registrants, staff and volunteers is our top priority and at this time several health agencies in North America have recommended cancelling large gatherings. Although the Federal Ministry of Health continues to assess the health risk to Canadians as low in regards to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) the Vancouver Sun Run feels that is in the best interest of our participants to cancel the event.
The Vancouver Sun Run, the third largest 10K in North America, was slated to take place on Sunday, April 19th.
This decision was not an easy one,” said Tim Hopkins, Vancouver Sun Run Race Director, “we are grateful to all of our volunteers, sponsors, suppliers and of course athletes for their understanding and support around this decision.

About the Vancouver Sun Run
The Vancouver Sun Run is Canada’s largest 10K road race and the 3rd largest timed 10K in North America. The Vancouver Sun Run is open to international elite competitors, recreational runners, joggers and walkers, wheelchair competitors, teams, schools and children.
The Course
10K route is a beautiful scenic course which begins in Vancouver’s downtown core at Burrard Street and Georgia Street. Participants will enjoy the downhill start as they make their way towards the world famous Stanley Park, continuing along English Bay to Hornby Street, then onto Pacific Avenue, across the Burrard Street bridge exiting onto 2nd Avenue. Winding along Fir Street to join 4th Avenue the route continues east on 6th Avenue to the Cambie Street Bridge for the final stretch across the bridge to the finish line.The course truly showcases all the beauty of this wonderful city. As typical of other road races, the roads used are completely closed to vehicular traffic and streams of observers watch and cheer from the along the sidewalks.
