Bow Wow’s rap career peaked in the early 2000s when he released several platinum-selling albums, including Beware of Dog and Doggy Bag.
The former 106 & Park host released his first rap album when he was 13 and later transitioned into acting in titles like Lottery Ticket, Like Mike, All About the Benjamins and CSI: Cyber.
When a fan suggested that the Atlanta rap star “study chemistry or something” once he retires, he revealed, “I got 3 NEW tv shows i dont have time for that baby.”
This is the second time Bow Wow has announced his retirement. In a 2009 interview he said, “There’s no more that needs to be done on the music side… nothing more that I want to accomplish.” He was 22 years old when he made the previous announcement.
Fans on social media shared their confusion at the retirement news, with many claiming he was already technically retired.
There is no release date set for Bow Wow’s last album, NYLTH.
