Vancouver's Peach Pit talking about their new song "Shampoo Bottle"

Vancouver indie band Peach Pit stopped by CFOX for their first time to talk about their new song “Shampoo Bottles.” The song will be part of their upcoming sophomore album which will come out in a few months.

Peach Pit attribute their early rise to a Filipino youtuber who included one of their songs in her playlists. From their they experienced rapid growth in new fans from Asia.

Guitarist Christopher Vanderkooy says, “the internet is doing this where it’s taking teenage culture, and it’s not like its just American teenage culture anymore. It’s universal. We’re played in Indonesia, and there are kids singing the lyrics to our songs just the same as they are in the US.”

They also talk about their new song “Shampoo Bottles” and we explore the quote used in the press for the song: “‘Shampoo Bottles’ is a song about the stuff my ex-girlfriend left at my apartment after we broke up (deodorant, shampoo, cell phone charger) and how even after I’d used up all the soap in the bottle and the deodorant in the stick, I still didn’t throw them out for a while. The video, directed by our longtime collaborator Lester Lyons-Hookham, has four protagonists each mourning the end of something. It shows how coping with a loss can make you do weird things.”

Peach Pit will be heading out on a huge tour with a number of Canadian dates.
